A little scrub can make you beautiful: how we can optimally prepare our skin for summer with a natural peeling.
Yesterday I put my thick winter sweaters and winter jackets away. It feels so good and immediately puts me in a great mood. I'm looking forward to the first iced coffees outside in the sun, to the tulips in my garden, to my summer dresses, to walking barefoot. Spring, I'm ready!
I want to experience this feeling with all my senses. That's why I'm treating my skin to a special care program. It's been wrapped up under warm sweaters for a long time and could use a little kick of freshness. There's nothing better than a gentle body peeling. It makes my skin noticeably smoother, more elastic and softer because it removes impurities, stimulates cell renewal, stimulates circulation and supplies the skin with nutrients. By cleansing deep into the pores, regular peelings can even prevent skin impurities and cleanse and detoxify pores.
For me, it has never been an option to put mineral oil-based raw materials or synthetic fragrances and preservatives on my skin. That's why I don't use chemical peels. Natural scrubs are not only much better, but they're also easy to make yourself. They contain three ingredients:
1) Abrasive particles gently scrub the skin
In order to rub off the skin flakes properly, you need something abrasive. Many conventional cosmetics manufacturers still use microplastics, which not only pollute the environment but are probably even harmful to health. I recommend natural alternatives, there is a wide selection: it starts with coffee grounds, but you can also use coconut flakes, ground nuts or clay. All forms of salt and sugar are also wonderful for the skin. I personally love sea salt as a peeling material. It has anti-inflammatory and disinfectant properties and has been known for centuries for its healing properties. It also helps the skin to regulate itself and has a balancing effect.
2) Oils take over the caring part
The second ingredient for the peeling is a nourishing oil. You can find this in your home too: olive, coconut and almond oil are excellent. High-quality oils such as avocado or jojoba oil are also great. In an emergency, sunflower oil will also work, although it is not quite as good for the skin. Important: always use virgin sunflower oil.
3) Washing surfactants for that special extra
Many people limit their scrubs to the two ingredients "abrasive particles" and "oil". I experimented a lot and for me this composition was not perfect because it left me feeling a bit oily and slippery when I was peeling in the shower. That's why I add mild detergent surfactants to my peels. This has the advantage that you no longer need shower gel, you feel fresh and clean after the peeling.
How each person combines their two or three ingredients to create their own individual scrub is of course a matter of taste. For example, in my New Energy Scrub product, I mixed aloe vera oil with mineral-rich sea salt, green clay and mango butter and added essential lemongrass for a pleasant natural scent. The body scrub is uniquely revitalizing and intensively nourishing - perfect for starting the day. However, when I need a particularly clear head, I use my Clear Spirit Scrub. In addition to sea salt, it also contains avocado oil, matcha tea, silica and a fantastically refreshing mint and lemon aroma. It has a wonderfully liberating effect. In the evening, I like to balance and relax with my Balance Scrub, which combines St. John's wort and apricot kernel oil with essential rose oil.
After a gentle peeling, I then apply a body lotion. I love it when my skin gets a natural glow. And then I'm ready for the spring sun.
